We provide a full range of design, construction and commissioning services and are active across many sectors including Renewables, Gas Networks, Water, Energy & Utilities, and Asset Management. The company is responsible for planning and development of some of the most significant projects in the energy sector in Ireland. We have 8 offices across England, Northern Ireland and Ireland with over 200 staff.

The Role….

Electrical Design Engineer – REF: 2526

We are looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Energy, Utilities and Renewables design team. The successful candidate will join an established team with senior support and will have the opportunity as their career progresses to acquire a broad range of skills and experience in design and project management.

The role will provide you with essential engineering, communications and project delivery skills which are transferrable across any engineering project.

An example of some of the responsibilities for the role as the business needs require are as follows:

• Feasibility studies for power generation plants
• Preparation of electrical technical designs & submissions.
• Power System Studies, including load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination calculations.
• Use of electrical software packages such as Dialux, Electrical OM, Trimble, ETAP, etc.
• Preparation of electrical schematics, installation details and drawings.
• Generate specifications for switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and other major HV and LV equipment.
• Design of ancillary electrical services including building distribution network, lighting systems, fire alarm, earthing and bonding, cabling systems, equipment schedules.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations. Participate in all phases of projects, from engineering to the procurement and construction.
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders in project implementation to achieve project and company goals.
  
  

The Electrical Design Engineer will have the opportunity within Fingleton White to be involved in the following sectors as their career progresses:

• Industrial utilities design
• Water, wastewater, oil, and gas pipeline installations
• Combined heat & power plant
• Renewable energy projects such as hydro, solar and bioenergy projects
• Project management
  
  

The location for this role will be in our Dublin office, however we will also consider applications for our Portlaoise office.

Requirements:

The Candidate….

The ideal candidate will have:

• Engineering degree (Honours bachelor's degree or higher) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 2+ years post-graduate experience
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Good academic record
• Full clean driving license and own transport required
• Fluent written and spoken English is essential
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
