Role Profile: We are searching for an ambitious and experienced leader to step into a high-impact role. Join our expanding team as the Deputy Investment COO and play a crucial role in managing the operational aspects of our investment team, consisting of approximately 70 professionals. The Investment Operations function ensures the effective management of the Trading, Product Specialist, Investment Analytics, and Investment Automation teams. Responsibilities include managing headcount, budgets, onboarding, and ensuring new platforms are fit for purpose while improving the efficiencies of controls and investment processes.

Duties:

  1. Directly manage the Investment Operations Support team, with potential to manage other teams based on areas of expertise.
  2. Support the Investment COO with the effective management of the Investment operations function including trading, product specialist, portfolio analytics, and Investment analytics automation.
  3. Act as Deputy to the COO, stepping into key stakeholder meetings in their absence, including Senior management team meetings.
  4. Manage and coach the investment operations support team, conducting performance reviews in line with Mediolanum processes.
  5. Oversee delegate onboarding, maintain delegate manager relationships, service and research providers maintenance as well as coordinating new Terms of Business across multiple funds for target fund investments.
  6. Draft and coordinate the onboarding of investment mandates.
  7. Assist the Investment COO with managing headcount, budgeting, onboarding, the introduction of new platforms and seek to improve process efficiencies.
  8. Oversee revenue management, project management, securities lending programme, proxy voting, as well as costs and fees of external managers and providers.
  9. Drive change across the investment team to achieve operational efficiency and knowledge.
  10. Ensure all procedures across the investment team are correct and up to date.
  11. Chair the Investment IT working group.
  12. Document and enhance the investment workflow.
  13. Undertake ad-hoc requests from the COO, supporting deliverables and reports in a timely manner.
  14. Conduct research to remain up to date with the Market knowledge and lifecycles.

Skills & Competencies:

  1. Strong knowledge of mutual fund landscape and insurance industry.
  2. Investment management expertise.
  3. Understanding of operational workflow within Asset management.
  4. Proven leadership skills and experience coaching and managing a team.
  5. Project management capabilities.
  6. Ability to perform under pressure and within tight deadlines with accuracy.
  7. Excellent numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  8. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  9. Good negotiation skills and a personable demeanor.
  10. Advanced Microsoft office skills.
  11. Familiarity with technology, experience with Salesforce advantageous.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. 10+ years in a relevant management role in financial services.
  2. Experience in an Asset Manager/ Investments.
  3. Bachelor's Honours Degree in a relevant field.
  4. Further asset management qualifications (CFA) advantageous.
