About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Manager (Grade 7) to join the LGMA Research Unit, which comprises a Head of Research, two Research Managers, and a Research Officer. The Research Manager will be a key member of the research team and will report directly to the Head of Research.

This is a middle management supervisory position responsible for the efficient management, direction, and deployment of resources for the Research Unit. The role includes overseeing the day-to-day operations, supervising research staff and commissioned researchers, and ensuring the delivery of an annual research program involving engagement with internal colleagues and external stakeholders such as local authority staff, government officials, and academic partners.

The successful candidate will manage Data Working Groups (DWGs) across key policy areas, which analyze administrative data to generate evidence for the sector, reporting to CCMA policy committees. They will also engage with the LGMA Central Data Unit to support DWG work programs and may liaise with NOAC regarding sectoral performance indicators and customer service topics.

The role requires an effective communicator with extensive data presentation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to carry out quality checks and document processes. The Research Manager will contribute to policy development, support research dissemination, provide technical advice, and oversee data collection and reporting processes, including those related to NOAC's performance indicators, customer service surveys, and Climate Action KPIs.

Additional responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, representation on national committees, supporting research collaborations, and maximizing academic and institutional linkages.
