Base pay range

A well known PLC is looking to hire an ambitious Head of Finance to join on a permanent basis with clear route moving into Finance Director role within 3-4 years.

This is a commercial role where you will drive provability and Business Partner while also improving financial control and operational efficiency within the business. Previous background in Logistics, wholesale or manufacturing is beneficial.

Operations Finance

Partner with the Operations Director, Head of Supply Chain, and Head of Purchasing to:

• Maximise efficiency across core operations.
• Maintain accurate forecasts for margin, cost, and cash.
• Conduct "what-if" analysis projects to drive business improvement.
• Track KPIs and collaborate with management to identify issues, implement improvements, and monitor progress.

Operations Overheads

• Manage supplier rebates and support.
• Oversee stock adjustments, stock control, quarantined stock, and cycle count audits.
• Handle customs accounting, VAT, Intrastat, and 46G reporting.

Financial Shared Services

Collaborate with the Finance Business Partner (Financial Control) to:

• Ensure smooth operation of general accounting.
• Achieve supplier invoice matching rates above 80%.
• Implement controls and processes to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of work delivered by the FSSC.

Finance Director Support

• Prepare Directors' Management Pack and Finance Team Management Pack.
• Act as GDPR Champion.
• Manage insurance and legal matters.
• Contribute to the development of the 3-year strategic plan.
• Oversee cash and working capital management.
• Supervise taxation, payroll, intercompany transactions, and IFRS 16 reporting.
• Coordinate month-end reporting.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Lead monthly forecasting processes.
• Coordinate the annual budgeting cycle.

People Management

• Manage a team of capable finance professionals at various career stages.
• Enhance productivity through automation, AI, and well-defined systems and procedures.

Key requirement of the Head of Finance

• Qualified accountant.
• Ready to progress to a Finance Director role within 2-3 years.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a finance management role.
• Experience in distribution, Logistics, manufacturing (desirable but not essential).

• Supervise taxation, payroll, intercompany transactions, and IFRS 16 reporting.
• Coordinate month-end reporting.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Lead monthly forecasting processes.
• Coordinate the annual budgeting cycle.

People Management

• Manage a team of capable finance professionals at various career stages.
• Develop internal talent.
• Enhance productivity through automation, AI, and well-defined systems and procedures.

Key requirement of the Head of Finance

• Qualified accountant.
• Ready to progress to a Finance Director role within 2-3 years.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a finance management role.
• Experience in distribution, Logistics, manufacturing (desirable but not essential).
