Adults Respite Services, Garrettstown, Co. Cork.
AIM OF SERVICE AREAThe aim of Respite Service is to provide planned care throughout the year which supports a family in the continued care and development of their adult with an intellectual disability. Meaningful activities are provided in an environment which is both stimulating and relaxing according to the individual needs for a safe and pleasant stay away from home.
Services need to be flexible in the range of supports offered to families to meet their needs. The Respite Services Manager will be responsible for planning and developing a range of Respite Services.
The role of a Support WorkerSupport Workers provide a key-working caring role for a group of People Supported by the Services. This role comprises two main elements. Firstly, the Support Worker is responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support People Supported by the Services with development on Individual Plan's and achievement of associated outcomes. In addition, a critical component of this role is to support People Supported by the Services in community participation and integration.
The successful candidate- Must have a minimum relevant Level 5 (formerly FETAC) Major Award qualification on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework (8 modules in total) preferably in Healthcare Support / Health Service Skills (desirable a module in Intellectual Disability) / Childcare OR SNA qualification OR be undertaking a relevant Social Care / Nursing Qualification Level 7/ Level 8
- It is essential for the candidates to have at least 6 months' experience of working in the intellectual disability sector with Adults/children.
- Must have a full clean Driver's licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as driving service vehicles is a requirement for the role
- Have experience of working with adults/children with behaviours that challenge
Reporting to: Social Care Leader / Services Manager, or other authorised person as the Employing Authority may designate.
Salary Scale: €34,036 - €47,454 including 1 LSI per annum (1/8/25 Department of Health Consolidated Scales).
