We are seeking a high-calibre, commercially astute Senior Estimator who will play a pivotal role in delivering cost-competitive, high-quality solutions that support our customers' evolving needs.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of technical expertise, commercial strategy, and value engineering—ideal for an experienced professional looking to shape major projects in a dynamic, high-growth environment. Your Role – Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop accurate, competitive, and commercially sound estimates for switchgear and modular power solutions.
  2. Ensure precision in material selection, labour costing, and value engineering.
  3. Review and interpret technical drawings, electrical specifications, and bid documents to develop highly accurate, competitive, and commercially sound estimates.
  4. Partner closely with the sales team and wider organisation to drive bid-winning strategies that align with customer needs, industry standards, and CEL's commitment to excellence—delivering competitive, high-quality solutions that result in winning outcomes.
  5. Leverage AI-driven estimating tools to enhance cost, efficiency, forecasting, risk assessments, and bid competitiveness.
  6. Maintain and refine a structured database of cost information, ensuring efficiency in future bids and improved estimation accuracy.
  7. Refine and optimise cost structures to drive greater efficiency and bid competitiveness while maintaining profitability targets.
  8. Track and monitor project scope changes, identifying cost implications and adjusting estimates accordingly.
  9. Establish and nurture strong partnerships with key supply chain partners to secure optimal pricing, availability, and quality, while driving cost-effectiveness and innovation through strategic collaboration into our solution and value-driven proposals.
  10. Incorporate market volatility factors into estimates to safeguard against cost fluctuations and supply chain risks and global uncertainty.
  11. Refine bid management strategies to ensure alignment with customer requirements and business growth objectives.
  12. Optimise commercial processes to enhance profitability, efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.
  13. Collaborate cross-functionally to improve cost forecasting accuracy and proactively mitigate risks.

Technical & Industry Expertise

  1. 5+ years' experience in estimating electrical switchgear and associated products for industrial, commercial, or data centre environments.
  2. Degree in Electrical Engineering is highly regarded.
  3. Expertise in ePODs and modular power solutions is a strong advantage, particularly for data centres and large-scale projects.
  4. Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and layouts to develop accurate, cost-effective estimates.

Commercial Acumen & Strategic Thinking

  1. Deep understanding of cost structures, value engineering, and margin optimisation.
  2. Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to streamline processes for greater efficiency.
  3. Experience with key manufacturers and vendor supply chains is beneficial.
  4. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data-driven estimating tools.
  5. Experience with AI-powered estimating software and costing systems to enhance efficiency and automate bid processes.

Exceptional Communication & Presentation Skills

  1. Fluent in English (written & verbal), with clear, concise communication for client interactions, bid documentation, and vendor negotiations.
