Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Hyperemesis Ireland Full time

Join our nine other Trustees to implement our 2025-2027 strategy and work towards equitable HG care for everyone in Ireland. Board members will:

  • Ensure HI is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
  • Act with Reasonable Care and Skill in the best interest of the charity
  • Manage the assets of HI
  • Provide strategic direction in line with our aims and objectives.

We have three subcommittees currently: Governance, Medical & Education, and Communications & Fundraising which meet in between board meetings as necessary.

If you are interested and have relevant experience, but not sure if being a Trustee is right for you - please do apply It's possible that being a subcommittee volunteer who reports to the board would be a better fit for some, and we're happy to chat with you.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with HG as a patient, carer, or healthcare provider would be helpful.
  • Ability to work remotely and independently, particularly by email.
  • Proactive, clear, and responsive communicator
  • Working fluency in English; other languages spoken in Ireland would be a plus.

We are particularly looking for those with experience in the following areas:

  • Experience relevant to Board Secretary/Treasurer/leadership, particularly in the non-profit/charity/voluntary sector
  • Management & governance: familiarity with the Charities Governance Code would be a plus
  • Obstetrics, midwifery, or other healthcare professionals or researchers involved in perinatal care, postnatal care, or mental health.
  • Communications, particularly PR or healthcare

Time commitment:

Board meetings take place approximately 5-6 times a year, mostly online with one in-person meeting per year. You would be expected to prepare for and attend the majority of these. As we are a volunteer-run charity, board members who have capacity to give additional time to particular projects, subcommittees, ad-hoc media appearances, etc., would have an advantage. Candidates who could commit to at least two years on the board would also have an advantage.

How to Apply

Please email news@hyperemesis.ie with "Trustee application" as the subject line; within the email include short answers to the following questions:

  • What is your experience of HG?
  • What impact do you want to have for HG patients in Ireland?
  • Why do you want to be on the board/a volunteer?

You may also attach a CV in PDF or .doc format. Deadline for applications is 30th April 2025. Interviews will be held online, with the aim to have new trustees in place in June 2025.
