As we continue to expand our services to better meet the needs of those we care for, we currently have multiple opportunities within our Orchard Community Care division in Waterford City for full-time and part-time Health Care Assistants.

As a Health Care Assistant with us, you will engage in daily activities and routines of the service, including direct support to service users, administrative work, and daily household tasks required of the role. You will work as part of a dedicated and innovative team providing services to the people we support in line with HIQA regulations and standards.

Our services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, on a shift basis that includes sleep-ins and waking night duties as required. Due to the nature of the position, some flexibility regarding hours may be necessary from time to time.

Essential Requirements:
  • Relevant QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualifications or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities
  • Knowledge of adults/children with complex needs
  • Full manual driver's license and eligibility to drive in Ireland
  • Eligible to live and work in Ireland
Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist with activities and care for children/adults as assigned by the Manager and as indicated in the person's integrated Care Plan, ensuring a high standard of care
  • Recognize each child/adult as an individual, prioritizing their and their family's needs and comforts
  • Act as an advocate for the child/adult and family, providing appropriate information and support
  • Develop social interactions for the people we support, both individually and in group settings
  • Be aware of the uses, safety precautions, and handling of equipment
  • Participate in all communication processes, including team meetings, staff forums, and emails
  • Provide personal care to the people we support when required
  • Maintain confidentiality of the organisation and the people we support at all times
  • Be flexible and willing to work shifts as part of the rolling roster to meet service needs
