Senior Investment Management Specialist

Description:

We are seeking a talented Senior Investment Management Specialist to join our growing business and play a pivotal role within the team to advise on investment strategy, assist with portfolio construction, mentor less experienced team members, and oversee task management. The successful candidate will have strong technical and analytical capabilities, be a team player, hardworking, intellectually ambitious, and detail-oriented.

The role involves leading portfolio construction for multi-asset portfolios across DC, private wealth, and wealth management, as well as providing investment strategy advice for DB pension schemes.

Mercer's Delegated Solutions Strategy team offers specialised investment advice, focusing on dynamic de-risking, hedging, and portfolio construction, aiming to manage pension schemes towards full funding and providing a clear governance framework.

The candidate should possess a strong investment background, project management, leadership, organisational, collaboration, and communication skills. They should be capable of managing the delivery of complex solutions, using initiative to meet tight deadlines and routine projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading investment strategy analysis and asset allocation for various portfolios.
  • Analyzing client strategies to achieve target returns within constraints.
  • Proposing updates to hedging strategies using various tools and models.
  • Adjusting asset allocations dynamically as needed.
  • Representing Mercer's expertise on multi-asset investing to clients and internally.
  • Managing implementation of strategies and asset allocation changes.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Leading and developing junior team members.
  • Supporting business development efforts.
  • Overseeing fund performance and conducting strategy reviews.
  • Driving process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years in financial services (consulting, pensions, fund or wealth management, investments, or asset management).
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Motivated, focused, and able to work independently.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Qualified Actuary or CFA Charterholder.
  • Deep experience in investment strategy and portfolio construction.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and team-oriented.
