Job Role: Junior Buyer

This role is responsible for developing and implementing selected category strategies for a leading retail chain. It is a full-time position within the Procurement function of the Retail business, based in the Citywest Support Office with a hybrid work arrangement (home and office).

Responsibilities
  1. Manage core Front of Shop categories, including range development.
  2. Deliver category sales and margin targets.
  3. Build, present, and implement effective category strategies.
  4. Manage the entire product lifecycle from conception to customer.
  5. Maintain and grow supplier relationships.
  6. Develop promotional plans and coordinate with Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams.
  7. Negotiate joint business plans and long-term agreements with suppliers.
  8. Identify opportunities to increase revenue and margin, analyzing performance regularly.
  9. Stay updated on market and industry trends to enhance customer offerings and review competitor pricing.
  10. Focus on stock management, including markdowns and stock-outs.
  11. Collaborate with space planning to develop and execute planograms.
  12. Prepare and present range reviews and trade show opportunities.
  13. Liaise with supply chain to ensure timely product delivery.
  14. Conduct store visits to support sales growth.
  15. Build strong relationships with other departments.
  16. Perform any additional projects and duties as required.
Personal Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in buying or category management, with strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience in pharmacy retail or similar retail chains is preferred.
  • Degree in business or related field is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
