Overview

This post is an essential link in Nurse Management and provides support to the Director of Nursing services at Wexford General Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision to nursing and allied staff at all levels and provide support and advice.
  • Deputise for the Director of Nursing and services in her absence.
  • Provide leadership and be accountable and responsible to further develop governance structures and within those have the authority to assess, plan, action, improve and review patient care and services at WGH.
  • Ensure that relevant timely data is available to support decision making and to assess quality improvement deliverables.
  • Lead on the use of quality improvement methodologies to ensure the delivery of quality improvement projects that will provide safer better healthcare across the patient pathway.
  • Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership to ensure quality patient care throughout the hospital.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Post Specific Requirements
  • Demonstrate significant perioperative/surgical nursing experience as relevant to the post of ADON Perioperative Directorate.
  • Have proven clinical and professional management ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills in the delivery of speciality services in the acute hospital setting.
  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of management experience in the acute setting.
  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of people and change management.

Qualifications / Experience
