A Social Care Manager (Person in Charge) is required to fill this full-time post. To qualify, you will need a strong management and leadership background, experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, and offering person-centered support. A sound understanding of regulatory requirements, skills to lead safe support within a complex residential environment, and qualifications in social care are essential. Commitment to personal development and teamwork is also required.
The role offers the opportunity to work within a committed team, a competitive salary, and access to collaborative learning within a leading national organization. It is a full-time salaried position, averaging around 40 hours per week, with possible on-call duties during evenings and weekends. All appointments are subject to Garda Vetting.
The community provides Residential Life Sharing Services, Day Opportunities, and Support Services for adults with support needs. Camphill operates with a strong voluntary ethos, including many voluntary and vocational coworkers, some of whom also live in the community.
Purpose of the PostTo uphold Camphill Community of Ireland's ethos and values as the principal person responsible for the day-to-day management of the Community. Ensuring the provision of residential and person-centered support in a safe environment that promotes an excellent quality of life and helps individuals achieve their ambitions. This includes working with staff and coworkers to develop and plan all aspects of the service, meeting Health Information & Quality Authority standards, and providing leadership and line management within the community.
Key ResponsibilitiesGovernance and Leadership
- Report regularly to the national Senior Management Team (SMT) on community functioning and developments.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to the SMT and Regional Manager.
- Lead the community and manage the management team, ensuring they have the skills, resources, and motivation to fulfill their responsibilities.
- Control community work and resources collaboratively according to the business plan and policies.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with HSE, comply with HIQA standards, and demonstrate continuous improvement through review and audit.
- Accountable for overall service provision, supporting staff to fulfill responsibilities across various service types.
- Promote a 'no tolerance' culture towards abuse.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery aligned with Camphill's ethos, with up-to-date policies meeting regulatory standards.
- Manage change effectively, develop and review business plans annually with consultation.
- Maintain effective record-keeping, monitoring, and reporting to support community functioning and meet funder/regulator requirements.
- Manage risks, health, and safety standards to ensure a safe environment.
- Investigate and respond to complaints, including protection concerns.
- Ensure quality assessments, support plans, and personal risk assessments are in place to promote a high quality of life.
- Support residents' choice, citizenship, and relationships, including access to advocates and professional support.
- Maintain knowledge of registered care and Supporting People standards.
- Collaborate with other organizations and initiatives to provide new opportunities.
- Ensure effective communication and engagement with staff.
- Manage staffing levels and skills mix according to residents' needs.
- Identify and address training needs.
- Participate in on-call duties and provide cover when needed.
- Review staffing regularly and adjust as necessary.
- Recruit and manage staff in line with policies and legislation.
- Ensure staff receive supervision and annual appraisals.
- Implement appropriate accounting controls.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, ensuring targets are met.
- Work with finance to develop budgets supporting service plans.
- Manage resources prudently within legal and policy frameworks.
- Support the community's financial viability through strategic reviews.
- Safeguard residents' finances according to policies.
Engage with residents to develop support tailored to their needs and aspirations, fostering citizenship and personal fulfillment.
Partnerships and Networking- Build relationships with HSE, partners, and agencies to promote collaboration and future planning.
- Provide timely reports and information to relevant agencies.
- Share learning with national Camphill communities and serve as the community's primary spokesperson.
- Ensure legal and regulatory duties are met and policies followed.
- Participate in meetings and training to enhance service delivery and professional growth.
- Promote best practices in record keeping and data protection.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Level 7 QQI qualification (BA) in Social Care Studies, Management, or equivalent.
- Postgraduate qualification in Social Care Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of senior management experience with strategic planning.
- At least 5 years' experience in health/social care or voluntary sector.

Salary: €54,422 - €60,922 per annum plus on-call rate of €3,904
Location: Co Kildare
Contract: Permanent, full-time 40 hours/week
