Project Worker, Family Services, Childer's Road Family Initiative

Location: Limerick Town and County

Contract: Part-time, 1 Year Fixed-Term Contract

The purpose of this job is to provide key working support to families within the service who are experiencing homelessness. To support these families to maintain their accommodation and to successfully move on from homelessness. To work from a trauma-informed practice to reduce the impact that homelessness can have on the families living in the service.

What you will do:

  • Work within the framework of the overall aims and objectives of Focus Ireland.
  • Work with and under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Project Leader and Project Manager.
  • Work as part of a team in partnership with other disciplines e.g. Child Support Worker, Peer Support Worker.
  • Provide a key-work and support service to residents in the Project.
  • Conduct regular home visits and key working sessions, support planning in partnership with the families.
  • Work from a client-centred approach, encouraging autonomy and independence.
  • Effectively liaise with external agencies and other relevant Focus Ireland Services.
  • Work in partnership with a variety of stakeholders to ensure a high level of service.
  • Attend and contribute to Team, Section and Agency meetings as required.
  • Engage in regular supervision sessions with your assigned supervisor.
  • Ensure appropriate records are kept accurately and up to date.
  • Prepare regular monthly reports and statistics, or as requested by Assistant Project Leader or the Project Leader.
  • Familiarize yourself with and comply with all relevant Focus Ireland and HSE policies e.g. Child Protection Policy, Confidentiality Policy, Customer Complaints Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Personnel Policy.
  • Liaise with, work co-operatively and effectively with the other divisions in Focus Ireland in relation to organisational procedures and policies in areas of personnel, finance and administration, research, development, education, public awareness and services.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities and duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Assistant Project Leader or Project Manager.

What you will need:

  • QQI Level 8 Qualification in Social Care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of homelessness and issues that affect people who are or have been homeless.
  • Experience of working in a supportive way with children and families.
  • Experience of key working and support planning.
  • A good understanding of Child Safeguarding responsibilities and experience of responding to concerns.
  • Experience of working and liaising with other agencies.
  • Full clean driving license and use of a car.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service (desirable).
  • Ability to plan and implement programmes (desirable).
  • Experience of team working (desirable).
  • Good communication, planning, organising and administration skills (desirable).
