Responsibilities and Opportunity

The Assistant Supervisor Utilities will assume responsibility for assisting the Land, Property and Planning Manager in managing utilities for the Scheme on which they have been deployed to facilitate a seamless and efficient delivery of Core Bus Corridor Infrastructure Works (CBCIW) on-time and within budget. The role holder will oversee the implementation of appropriate structures put in place to ensure utilities are managed to the satisfaction of the NTA. In addition, the Assistant Supervisor Utilities will coordinate with external utility asset owners where required, facilitating strategic alignment meetings to discuss the impact of Scheme delivery and arranging agreements with these companies on how Schemes will interact with their existing infrastructure.

As an Assistant Supervisor Utilities At Arup, You Will
  • Required to have 7+ years' experience in utilities management and at least 5 years' experience carrying out utilities management activities across the project lifecycle through to completion in high value road and / or infrastructure projects or projects of a similar scale and complexity to CBCIW.
  • Desirable: Delivering engineering solutions and results in dynamic urban environments.
  • Desirable: Coordinating utilities and other third party works on construction projects.
  • Desirable: Managing ducting infrastructure, including coordination of proofing and repair projects.
  • Desirable: Managing reinstatements of third-party works (e.g. underground telecoms roadworks in national roads).
  • Desirable: Inspecting third-party roadworks.
  • Desirable: Supervising contractors' performance to ensure works are undertaken in compliance with contract specifications and all other contractual requirements.
  • Desirable: Interface management with third parties.
  • Desirable: Recording the quality of the contractors' works, including issuing non-conformance notices.
  • Desirable: Driving best practice in technical activities, processes, policies and standards.
  • Desirable: In-depth understanding of the design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural, engineering or construction sectors.
  • Desirable: Safety processes and requirements of designing and constructing road projects in a live urban environment.
  • Desirable: Dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of processes and providing guidance to support project delivery and reporting.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of quality management and process improvement practices and systems is desirable, preferably within the construction sector.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Required to have a bachelor's degree in a construction related discipline.
  • Safepass accreditation is desirable.
  • Chartered member of a relevant professional body e.g. Chartered Engineer (ICE, IEI or equivalent) is desirable.
