Role Summary

As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Engineering (FRE) Regional Manager, you will manage a team that provides full life-cycle support to AWS existing Data Centers for retrofits and upgrades. Your team will be the 'go to' engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject matter expertise and engage with diverse teams to expand and support our large and growing portfolio.

Key responsibilities
  • Hire, coach, and develop employees that demonstrate Amazon Leadership Principles.
  • Manage team and individual performance, including promotions.
  • Create and improve metrics, driving efficiencies in repeatable work.
  • Apply high judgement to make trade-offs on competing business needs.
  • Establish strategic direction of the EMEA team, and influence roadmaps of technical or business partner teams.
  • Identify resource requirements and gaps, establishing a regional team roadmap to success.
  • Work directly with partner teams to implement new and improve existing processes and procedures, within their region and propagate globally where necessary.
  • Drive strategic communication, provides a technical strategy with limited guidance within their assigned Region.
  • Manage managers and team members with varying technical experience.
  • Identify risks and complexity to unblock engineers and partner teams.
  • Drive team timeliness, quality, operational stability and success meeting customer requirements/business objectives. Can identify where to simplify, optimize, and reduce overhead.
  • Establish and/or streamline metrics, development, engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices. Share best practices with peers.
  • Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design).
About the team

Senior leadership responsibilities include setting direction for the EMEA team and collaborating with cross-functional partners to implement new processes and scale global improvements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical/Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in managing a distributed engineering team.
  • Managed a team of 6+ direct reports for 6+ years.
  • Experience in managing other managers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Organized, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget.
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, with high quality standards.
  • Understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers (Including: UPS, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, PDU, VFDs, ATS, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc.).
  • Ability to develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects.
  • Previous ownership of fast-track design/build projects and/or multiple significant upgrade projects.
