At Meta Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Wearables and Mixed Reality products. This team focuses on developing µLED technologies for Meta products. We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our R&D team. In this role, you will work closely with internal research teams, academic institutions, external partners, and vendors. You will be the process/tool owner for the 'Back-End toolset' and will help define requirements, deliverables, schedule, and track project progress. Success in this role requires eliminating barriers, clear communication, and maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy across multiple projects. The candidate should demonstrate resourcefulness, adaptability, and success in driving impact among diverse stakeholders.

Process Development Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Process ownership: develop and optimize back-end tools including Bonding, CMP, Dice, and grinding
  • Collaborate with process development, device, and process integration teams to define process requirements for micro-LED processes
  • Plan, execute, and analyze Design Of Experiments (DOE)
  • Tool ownership: define configuration, acceptance criteria, selection, start-up, and qualification
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain process tool controls
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Out-of-Control Action Plans
  • Collaborate with industrial and academic partners
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Physics, or Optics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with µLED processing
  • Understanding of µLED/semiconductor processing and integration
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • At least 1 year of experience with Design of Experiments (DOE)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in LED or micro-LED processing (GaN and Phosphide-based materials)
  • Over 3 years of experience in research and manufacturing environments
  • Experience with root cause analysis and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Proven initiative, analytical, and organizational skills
