Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Winterfest Mullingar Full time
Overview

A company based in Ireland that provides energy efficiency and sustainability solutions to businesses. It helps clients optimise energy usage and meet sustainability goals through a combination of technical expertise, innovative solutions, and comprehensive project management.

Role

Watt Footprint is seeking a client-facing, detail-oriented Project Manager (Mechanical Engineering) to lead the mechanical engineering scope of our energy efficiency and sustainability projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of mechanical systems from initial design through to on-site implementation, working closely with clients, contractors, and our internal teams. You will act as the key point of contact for mechanical engineering elements, ensuring systems are high-performing, innovative, and aligned with each client's sustainability and energy goals.

You will manage the full lifecycle of the mechanical workstream, including system design, contractor coordination, site visits, installation oversight, and commissioning - ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction throughout.

While the role is remote, candidates must be based in Ireland, possess a full driver's licence, and be available for monthly in-person company training events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the mechanical engineering aspects of energy efficiency projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines
  • Serve as the primary client-facing representative for mechanical systems, effectively managing client expectations and communications
  • Conduct on-site assessments and manage relationships with contractors and subcontractors during implementation and commissioning phases
  • Design, specify, and optimise mechanical systems, including HVAC, heat pumps, and other energy-efficient technologies
  • Develop detailed technical documentation and project specifications for mechanical installations
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and energy consultants to integrate mechanical systems into holistic project designs
  • Ensure all mechanical designs comply with building regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines
  • Provide hands-on technical oversight during installation, testing, and troubleshooting phases
  • Monitor system performance post-installation to ensure effectiveness and client satisfaction
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in energy efficiency, HVAC, renewable energy, or sustainability projects
  • Proven experience in managing client relationships and delivering engineering solutions in a project management capacity
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems and energy-efficient building technologies
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and energy modelling software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems to non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of cross-functional teams
  • Highly organised, with experience managing multiple projects and site-based implementation activities
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonus structure
  • Flexible working hours to support work/life balance
  • Company laptop and WHF set up
  • Professional development opportunities to support career growth
  • Monthly team-building workshops and social events
  • 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays and your birthday off
