Position Summary

Guarantee the performance of all operations for the markets in scope, the Payroll and Time & Attendance processes, ensuring respect of employment laws, taxation and BMS HR policies.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the BMS payroll team assigned, for validating, approving and funding the payrolls for the markets in-scope, acting as first-level escalation for queries not resolved within the payroll specialist level.

This includes payroll processing, project implementation, employee inquiry management and issue resolution. The position will also work with external payroll vendors, PS functions and service lines, BMS business, Finance and HRBPs to ensure the effective delivery of end-to-end employee payroll processing and query management.

Detailed Position Responsibilities

  • Act as local and regional ambassador for the implementation and following of the Global Payroll Processes and People Services model.
  • Build & maintain long-term relationships with customers & key stakeholders.
  • Act as first level of escalation regarding payroll issues; report payroll escalations regularly to the Payroll Operations Lead via the Service Issue Log.
  • Work with the ADP Client relationship manager and the Global Payroll Operations Lead: conduct regular meetings, implement continuous improvement plans, hold payroll provider accountable, and ensure provider takes the agreed actions.
  • Conduct monthly in-depth payroll controls and ensure all assigned payrolls are processed timely and accurately.
  • Partner with the payroll vendor, HR and Finance teams, and liaise with other vendors to resolve queries.
  • Work with the Payroll Operations Lead to translate the Company's goals & objectives into manageable tasks for the team and ensure full understanding among team members.
  • Ensure adherence to established processes, policies, and internal controls; support Sarbanes-Oxley & other reviews, internal & external audits.
  • Work with the Payroll Operations Lead to develop tactics, strategies, procedures, and workflows for department activities to achieve objectives and deliver quality services.
  • Prepare periodical / ad-hoc reports for management and internal customers, reviewing requests with Payroll Operations Lead to validate relevance.
  • Review and approve payroll expenses in SAP as needed.
  • Participate in developing payroll strategy.
  • Contribute ideas to improve team activities and performance.
  • Supervise the Payroll Team members supporting EMEA payroll to ensure compliance with global payroll and People Services processes.
  • Support and drive payroll transformation projects.
  • Participate in project testing and implementation as needed.
  • Understand end-to-end processes and activities of other functions.

People Management Responsibilities

  • Manage people development and performance evaluation, providing feedback, coaching, and empowerment.
  • Identify development plans and ensure their implementation.
  • Provide technical and managerial training to team members.
  • Coordinate and prioritize people activities to meet objectives.
  • Motivate staff in line with BMS Behaviours.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Solid experience in payroll supervision, team leadership, or management in payroll/HR service centers covering EMEA.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes across various EMEA countries.
  • Experience working in a shared services environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll principles and practices (company & country).
  • Ability to coordinate multiple providers, projects, and change requests effectively.
  • Understanding of HR processes, payroll interfaces, and fiscal laws in EMEA.
  • Knowledge of HCM and payroll systems like ADP, SAP, Workday.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ownership of responsibilities and high-quality work delivery.
  • Problem-solving skills and client expectation management.
  • Strong organizational skills and deadline management.
