The HSE Engineer will play a key role in ensuring best practices in health, safety, and environmental management across the site. This role involves driving compliance with all relevant legislation, internal policies, and standards, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert, collaborate cross-functionally, and engage with external regulatory bodies to support audits, initiatives, and site-wide SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) performance.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Environmental Leadership

  • Lead the site's Environmental Pillar and drive progress toward global TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) standards.
  • Act as TPM Health & Safety Pillar Leader, championing key safety objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with the EPA Industrial Emissions License and proactively manage associated risks.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives and deliver agreed environmental programs.
  • Develop and manage the site's environmental roadmap, ensuring alignment with statutory and internal standards.
  • Maintain and improve ISO 14001:2015 EMS compliance.

Compliance & Auditing

  • Host and support external audits (e.g., NSAI, EPA) and internal compliance checks.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with statutory bodies (e.g., HSE, EPA).
  • Monitor and report environmental data (e.g., wastewater, air, noise) and submit annual EPA reports.
  • Manage the site's legal register and facilitate annual SHE compliance audits.

Training & Culture

  • Coordinate and deliver SHE training programs, including First Aid.
  • Promote the Life Saving Commitments Program and embed safety culture across the site.
  • Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and support incident investigations and corrective actions.

Operational Support

  • Support SHE-related capital projects and contribute to the annual Capex Investment Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with checklists and support contractor safety systems.
  • Manage PPE provision and waste management programs.
  • Oversee the Permit System and Contractor Portal.

Key Requirements

  • Qualification in a relevant field (e.g., health, safety and environment) with at least 4 years of related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Environmental Legislation and experience managing an IPC License, as well as dealing with the EPA, County Councils, and local authorities.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills (Microsoft packages).
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally, working independently and as part of a team.
