Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for a Social Care Worker. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for a new challenge. The position is for full-time and part-time roles located in County Kilkenny.
The Social Care Worker must have the ability to work with people with an intellectual disability and must believe that the person has the right to live and participate in the community equally with other people. The role requires confidentiality with regard to residents and staff, professionalism, and a person-centred, ethos-driven approach aligned with CCoI values. The duties involve supporting residents in line with individual plans, advocacy, daily living activities, community participation, and safeguarding the wellbeing and autonomy of residents.
Responsibilities- Advocacy & Rights: Respect each person using the services as an equal citizen; uphold rights; facilitate decision-making; promote self-advocacy; support personal hobbies and community participation.
- Person Centred Support for Living: Ensure a person-centred approach; act as Key Worker for specific individuals; develop and implement person-centred plans; coordinate medical appointments; support healthy, nutritious diets; plan and facilitate activities; ensure adherence to behaviour and safety plans; promote autonomy and social skills.
- Physical and Personal Care: Provide and support physical care needs, moving and handling, personal care, medication administration and records, infection control, personal hygiene programs, and household management to maintain a homely environment.
- Community & Leisure Participation: Facilitate involvement in recreational activities and community integration; liaise with Day Services and workshops to support transitions between home and work; promote access to community facilities.
- Transport & Driving: Competence in driving and taking part in transport duties as required.
- Household Management & Safety: Maintain household standards, liaise with Shift Lead and PIC, ensure safety and upkeep of premises; assist with budgeting and financial records for residents; ensure policies and regulations are followed.
- Money and Budgets: Manage petty cash and residents' monies; assist in budget preparation and monitoring; ensure proper accounting and balancing of accounts.
- Mandatory Policies: Uphold all regulatory requirements (health & safety, HIQA) and maintain records per CCoI policies; ensure timely reporting of concerns; support staff training and induction.
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum of Level 7 on the QQI Framework (BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent in Health or Social Care).
- Be CORU registered or provide proof the application is in progress.
- Have 1 year of experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Have understanding of current policy and developments related to Social Care within disability services.
- Be able to follow, evaluate, and contribute to plans to meet ongoing needs; possess effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Have Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite); hold a full driver's licence and have own car available.
