My client is currently seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join their growing team, working across property and liability insurance. You will be responsible for assessing and managing risks for commercial property and liability insurance policies, ensuring profitable underwriting decisions while maintaining strong broker and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, assess, and underwrite commercial property and liability insurance risks in accordance with company policies and guidelines.
  • Analyse financial and risk information to determine different terms, conditions, and pricing.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to drive business growth and retention.
  • Review and interpret insurance applications, policy endorsements, and renewals.
  • Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers while ensuring adherence to underwriting principles.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including claims and risk management, to ensure a comprehensive approach to underwriting decisions.
  • Monitor and manage a portfolio of accounts, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and profitability targets.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience working in commercial property underwriting, preferably within an insurance company or brokerage. Experience in liability is an advantage also.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and pricing methodologies would be advantageous but not necessary.
  • Familiarity with insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex risks.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional qualifications of CIP (or working towards it) would be advantageous.
