Accountant (Maternity Leave Contract)

Our client is a well-established construction company based in Cork, currently seeking a qualified Accountant to join their team on a maternity leave contract. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong accounting experience in the construction sector. RCT (Relevant Contracts Tax) experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Ensure full compliance with tax obligations – particularly RCT, VAT, and PAYE
  • Oversee subcontractor payments and submit RCT returns
  • Support project managers with cost reporting and budget tracking
  • Assist with year-end accounts and audits
  • Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to process improvements

Requirements:

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Strong working knowledge of RCT and subcontractor compliance
  • Familiarity with Irish tax legislation
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Salary & Benefits:
