Finance Director – Energy | Strategic Leadership Role

This role will suit a senior finance professional ready to join a fast-growing, purpose-driven company in the energy sector. A notable player in the energy space is looking for a commercially savvy and visionary Finance Director to drive financial strategy, optimise capital, and support bold growth ambitions.

This is a pivotal leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO, and offering the chance to influence the strategic direction of a company on a mission to power a greener future. You'll bring a strong understanding of energy markets, deep financial expertise, and a proactive approach to risk and compliance.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Design and deliver long-term financial strategies aligned with business growth targets
  • Advise the executive team and Board on strategic financial effectiveness
  • Establish and track key financial KPIs, driving performance and efficiency
  • Lead capital deployment and investment strategies across the business
  • Optimise the organisation's capital structure through smart debt and equity planning
  • Secure funding for major solar infrastructure projects by building relationships with banks and investors
  • Develop a financial framework that supports rapid scaling and international expansion
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions

Risk & Compliance Oversight

  • Lead the Group Risk Committee and champion enterprise-wide risk management
  • Ensure compliance with UK and EU financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting standards
  • Maintain rigorous internal controls and audit procedures

Stakeholder & Investor Engagement

  • Act as the financial face of the business to investors, banks, auditors, and regulators
  • Deliver transparent, high-quality financial communications and investor materials
  • Provide financial oversight across Asset Management and Energy Trading functions

Leadership & Transformation

  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team with a culture of accountability and growth
  • Implement modern financial technology tools to support efficiency and scalability
Requirements
  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or similar a plus)
  • Recognised accountancy qualification
  • 10+ years' financial leadership experience, with at least 5 in a Director or equivalent role
  • Strong track record in fast-growing, capital-intensive sectors—ideally renewables
  • Deep expertise in project financing, capital markets, and structuring corporate transactions
  • Familiarity with UK and European financial regulations and tax environments
  • Strategic mindset with excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • A passion for innovation, sustainability, and driving meaningful change

Remuneration

  • Up to €190,000 plus bonus, pension & family health insurance
