Volunteer: Ocean Stewardship Program in Cambodia

Location: Koh Rong, Cambodia

Duration: Minimum 4 weeks

Cost: from $2550 USD for 4 weeks

Fee Includes: all food, accommodation, pre-departure + in-country support, orientation and all project related activities

Does not Include: flights, travel insurance, personal spending, visas and vaccinations

Overview — About the program

The Ocean Stewardship Program is a well-established marine conservation initiative based in the Koh Rong Archipelago in southwest Cambodia. It focuses on empowering local coastal communities while preserving one of the region's pristine marine ecosystems. The program offers opportunities to collaborate with experienced professionals and to contribute to conservation efforts that shape the future of Cambodia's marine ecosystems.

Responsibilities
  • Gain personal hands-on experience in conservation initiatives.
  • Work alongside conservation professionals and scientists.
  • Live and work in a traditional Cambodian fishing village community.
  • Support the management of conservation activities and data collection for marine survey efforts.
  • Participate in activities that promote long-term environmental preservation and empower local communities.
Daily Life / Activities
  • Tree Planting: join reforestation efforts and habitat creation.
  • Coastal Clean-Up Drive: help safeguard the coastline from plastic pollutants.
  • Garbage and Plastic Collection: collect and dispose of waste to reduce pollution.
  • Stray Dog Rescue and Shelter: assist in rescue and care to improve animal welfare.
  • Environmental Education: share knowledge with local children and community members to promote sustainable practices.
  • Community Engagement: contribute to initiatives that align with environmental protection goals.
Qualifications / Suitability

Entry level opportunities for individuals with an interest in marine biology, environmental conservation, or related fields. Applicants should be prepared for field-based, hands-on work in a remote setting and commit to the stated duration.
