Job Overview

The role of Volunteer Support Officer involves leading the recruitment, training and support of volunteers to deliver Befriending and Support services for older adults. The position requires building a strong network through onboarding, training and ongoing guidance to ensure volunteers feel valued and engaged.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train and onboard volunteers to develop a robust volunteer base.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and communication to support volunteers in their roles.
  • Collaborate with the service team to match trained volunteers with older adults in a timely manner.
  • Promote Befriending and Support services and identify local events that encourage volunteer and older adult participation.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance volunteer engagement and foster a positive volunteer culture.
  • Develop volunteer leadership programs and collaborate on organizing social events to strengthen community connections.
  • Support the enhancement of the volunteer program, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational goals.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • A proven track record of recruitment and experience in promoting services, developing partnerships and fostering community participation is advantageous.
  • Organizational and coordination skills: ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and efficiently place and support volunteers.
  • Experience using CRM systems and digital tools for volunteer management, reporting and communication.
  • A background in a similar role within the voluntary or charity sector is desirable.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and best practices: understanding of volunteer vetting, Garda clearance and ethical considerations in volunteer management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • A collaborative team player who fosters strong internal and external relationships.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills to improve service delivery and support independent older adults and those we serve.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet key performance indicators.
  • A clean full driver's license with access to a vehicle is essential.
