Applications are invited for a 27 months post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science.

The ambition of CerealBio is to enhance the resilience and productivity under reduced chemical inputs and changing climatic conditions of the major EU cereal bread wheat and the regionally important cereals durum wheat and oats. The CerealBio evidence-based hypothesis is that crop resilience and sustainability can be achieved by breeding for traits that allow plants to establish beneficial synergies within the growing ecosystem, which includes soil resources, the above and below-ground microbiota, and the community of other crop plants.
Building on knowledge regarding germplasm disease resistance and mycotoxin accumulation from previous work CerealBio will investigate biological agents in the field to assess if they are robust at field level and if their efficacy can be improved through a better understanding of their mode of action.

Salary: €45,847
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
