The role
Children's Care Ireland is looking for dedicated, compassionate social care workers to join their new residential facility in Co. Louth.
Working as part of a team, you will provide high-quality social care in a safe, therapeutic environment, adhering to regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Work directly with young people in a home-like setting, developing therapeutic, professional, and caring relationships to meet their physical, psychological, social, and emotional needs.
- Accompany young people to appointments, meetings, holidays, and outings as appropriate.
- Build, maintain, and support relationships with young people and their families/significant others where appropriate.
- Assist in developing educational plans and support participation in recreational activities.
- Participate in daily handovers, team meetings, care planning, and review meetings.
- Ensure relevant information about young people is properly handed over to colleagues and management.
- Undertake key worker responsibilities, keeping young people's files up to date and acting as a key contact for their network.
- Manage and oversee petty cash, ensuring proper recording and safekeeping of monies and valuables.
- Comply with health and safety and fire safety policies and procedures.
- Engage in training and professional development through probation and appraisals.
- Foster good relationships with professionals from other disciplines and agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on individual young people and daily home activities.
- Report concerns regarding welfare, safeguarding, or staff conduct to management.
- Participate in supervision sessions as per company policy and national standards.
- Perform general housework and meal preparations, involving children as appropriate.
- Work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, sleepovers, and possibly waking nights, depending on needs.
Qualifications Required
Level 7 qualification (degree) or above in:
- Social Care, Social Work, Health and Social, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, Youth & Community, Teaching, Nursing, Social Science, Addiction Counselling, Counselling / Psychotherapy, Family Support, Disability Studies, Applied Behavioural Analysis
Level 8 qualification (Honours degree) or above in:
- Other qualifications such as Higher Certificate in Custodial Care (Irish Prison Service)
Experience Required:
- Full clean driving licence
- Experience working with children and young people in care or residential settings is desirable but not essential
- Ability to work in regulated activity, caring for and supervising young persons
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances, shift patterns, and expectations
