Social Worker – Mental Health

The Social Worker will provide a professional social work service as part of a multidisciplinary community mental health team in South Dublin, supporting service users with mental health needs and their families. The role involves psychosocial assessment, therapeutic intervention, advocacy, discharge planning, and safeguarding, aligned with national mental health policy and best practice.

Responsibilities of Social Worker – Mental Health

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Provide therapeutic support and evidence-based interventions to service users and families, individually and in groups.
  • Contribute to individual care planning and reviews within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Advocate for service users' rights and support access to housing, welfare, education, and community supports.
  • Promote recovery-oriented practice in line with A Vision for Change and Sharing the Vision (HSE mental health strategies).
  • Engage in safeguarding of vulnerable adults and child protection in line with legislation and HSE policy.
  • Liaise with other statutory and voluntary agencies to promote integrated care.
  • Provide input into multidisciplinary discharge planning and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records and reports.
  • Participate in supervision, clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and CPD.

Requirements of Social Worker – Mental Health

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work approved by CORU.
  • A minimum of one year's post-qualification experience working as a social worker (for staff grade).
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in the mental health field.
  • Experience working in adult community mental health or CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services).
