Job Description

SPAR Dublin Airport T2, part of the Ralph Retail Group, is recruiting a full-time Store Assistant Manager.

The Role
Supervisory
  1. Supervise the activities of the retail sales team daily, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.
  2. Provide high-quality, consistent customer service at all times.
  3. Delegate and communicate effectively with the retail sales team.
  4. Supervise the induction and training of all employees.
  5. Communicate sales performance to the team.
  6. Assist the store manager in recruiting high-calibre retail sales assistants.
  7. Assist in managing the retail sales team's performance.
Operations
  1. Ensure the store is merchandised in a customer-friendly and competitive manner, complying with company procedures.
  2. Maintain optimal store housekeeping.
  3. Coordinate in-store sales and promotions.
  4. Communicate sales and promotional activities to the team.
  5. Ensure cash handling policies are followed.
  6. Update shelf labels weekly.
  7. Respond to local market trends and competition appropriately.
  8. Provide high-quality, consistent customer service.
  9. Handle and resolve customer complaints effectively and pleasantly.
  10. Proactively implement store improvements based on customer feedback.
Stock Management
  1. Assist in stock take preparations and supervise as needed.
  2. Minimize stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage.
  3. Ensure food management and waste systems are followed.
  4. Check stock levels to meet customer needs.
  5. Ensure proper stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure in-date stock availability.
Legislation & Security
  1. Ensure secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager.
  2. Assist in staff management, ensuring compliance with labour laws, HACCP, health & safety, and consumer legislation.
  3. Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the store.
  4. Work with the store manager on health & safety checks and actions.
General
  1. Understand and implement company policies and procedures.
  2. Achieve targets set by the store manager.
  3. Escalate issues appropriately.
  4. Maintain ongoing communication with the store manager.
  5. Act as deputy store manager when required.
  6. Perform additional duties as assigned by the store manager.
Job Requirements
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience with fresh food.
  • Excellent knowledge of fresh food.
  • Operational knowledge of retail environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of consumer needs.
  • Knowledge of labour law, health & safety regulations, HACCP, and consumer law.
  • Commercial acumen and market responsiveness.
  • Commitment to improving standards.
  • Self-motivated and ambitious.
  • Computer literacy.
