JOB DESCRIPTION
ROLE TITLE: EHS SPECIALIST/ ADVISOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide EH&S support for major projects at the Cork site with a focus on EH&S by Design. As a member of the site EH&S Projects team, you will act as an SME and advisor to selected project teams in relation to EHS legislation, J&J EH&S Standards, relevant engineering standards & industry norms.
Mainly onsite, minimal WFH (1 day a week)
Need a technical tertiary and EHS experience (not construction safety) in a regulated manufacturing environment, ideally pharma.
Machine safety experience would be advantageous.
GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary role
- Conduct EHS Impact Assessments (IA) as part of Management of Change process to ensure that all EHS requirements and J&J standards are incorporated
- Implement J&J 'EH&S by Design' as required for selected projects
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs & 3D model reviews
- In addition support JSAs, noise /IH/ergonomics / WRAPs (machine safety) assessments
- Support FATs / SATs as required
- Participate in W1 / W3 / Care Custody & Control walkdowns as part of project closeout
- Support IA action closure & tracking
- Perform periodic walkdowns / audits / programme reviews to ensure compliance with IED licence, SOPs & regulatory requirements.

- Candidate must have a strong EHS general/technical knowledge and experience in the Bio/Pharma industry, MedTech or equivalent, be a strong effective communicator with all stakeholders.
- Candidate must be a strong collaborator with a proven track and a strong networker able of leveraging EHS&S expertise on and off site.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience working to ISO14001 and ISO45001 international standards, preferably within a Biopharma/pharmaceutical or related environment is required.
ESSENTIAL:
- A relevant third level qualification in Science, Engineering or EHS, with at least 5 years' experience in the environment, health and safety area is a prerequisite for the position.
- Good overall knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in both Environment and Safety
- Creates dashboards, power-point presentations and can track and trend KPI's, assembling information into clearly written reports, documented findings or recommendations and communicate this progress in easily understandable manner to all stakeholders.
DESIRABLE:
- Machine safety experience/qualification would be a distinct advantage
- Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills
- A flexible approach, good priority setting skills and ability to deal with multiple tasks
