The project:

The project is a generational project providing Dublin & Ireland with a much needed world class Metro system to support the fast growing population. The project is an 18.8km fully autonomous Metro system, consisting of 16 stations, 2 significant tunnelled section and a number of significant structures along the alignment. The project will integrate existing transportation systems through the city and surrounding areas, including the Dublin airport, Irish Rail and the LUAS. The role-holder will form part of the HSSEQ team within the HSSEQ Directorate, reporting to the project quality lead. The successful candidate must lead by example and serve as a role model ensuring the highest standards are adopted across the project.

The role-holder will form part of the HSSEQ team within the HSSEQ Directorate, reporting to the project HSSEQ Lead. The successful candidate must lead by example and serve as a role model ensuring the highest standards are adopted across the project. The Health and Safety Advisor who support the implementation of health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with Irish regulation, and fostering a safe working environment for all personnel. This role is crucial in minimizing risks, preventing accidents, and promoting a strong safety culture across the project.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Support the investigation of incidents and accidents, providing reports and recommendations.

  • Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety documentation, risk assessments, and method statements.

  • Collaborate with project managers and contractors to promote a strong safety culture.

  • Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation, including ISO45001 standards.

  • Monitor subcontractor safety practices and provide guidance where necessary.

  • Assist in the preparation of safety reports for senior management.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.

You'll need to have:

  • 10+ years' experience in supporting the implementation of health and safety arrangements on high value metro rail projects or projects of a similar scale and complexity.

  • Strong understanding of Irish health and safety regulations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and liaise with multiple stakeholders.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Previous experience in construction or rail projects is advantageous but not always required.

  • A relevant qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or a diploma in Occupational Health & Safety).

You'll also have:

  • A qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or a diploma in Occupational Health & Safety).

  • IOSH Membership (or working towards).
