Community Support Worker - Day Services - Permanent role at Reach Ability. This full-time position supports the Team Leader, Residential Team Leader and Residential and Day Services Manager in delivering day services for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Responsibilities- Maintain the physical and emotional well-being and personal hygiene of people with intellectual disabilities as assigned by the Unit Team Leader.
- Support service users and residents in community living, enabling choice and control, social and civic participation, personal relationships, education and personal development.
- Accept delegated responsibility for the health and hygiene of service users (children and/or adults) attending the Unit; cooperate with staff to create an environment that supports cognitive development, communication, motor skills, social integration, and appropriate activities (e.g., play, sports, outings).
- Assist with activities of daily living including meals, kitchen skills, literacy and numeracy as appropriate, and implementing dietary programmes.
- Support with medical and dental care, hospital appointments, and general well-being; participate in monitoring and recording progress in line with procedures.
- Act as a link between the Unit and families; maintain confidentiality; participate in staff meetings and planning, and support the delivery of individual and group programmes.
- Assist with supervision, training and monitoring of students and volunteers; act as a key worker where assigned; contribute to public awareness and service improvement initiatives.
- Administer prescribed medicines in accordance with Reach Ability policies and keep required records; support consumer feedback mechanisms and participation in planning and service delivery.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and cooperation with organizational changes, policy implementation, and use of new technology.
- Facilitate transport-related duties, drive organizational vehicles as required, conduct safety inspections, and support service users during outings and activations.
- QQI (Fetac) Level 5 in Healthcare Support - Major Award or similar, or currently undertaking (minimum Year 2) or a BA in Applied Social Studies or equivalent.
- At least one year of community support worker / care assistant experience.
- Full Clean Driving Licence.
- Be eligible to work in Ireland.
The successful candidate will be appointed on the Care Assistant HSE Hybrid Payscale (Sept 2008), € €20.66 per hour DOE. The closing date is Wednesday, September 10th; applications may close earlier if volume is high.
