Job Description

The Electrical and Sustainability Engineer at Johnson & Johnson is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the site's electrical distribution systems, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and safety protocols. This role involves supporting the design, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical infrastructure, as well as leading initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability across the organization. The engineer will drive the implementation of energy management systems such as ISO 50001, conduct energy audits, and spearhead projects to reduce carbon footprint. They will collaborate across functions to integrate sustainable practices into daily operations while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in electrical and energy systems.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and own the site electrical distribution system ensuring all regulatory standards are met and adhered to.
  • Analyze harmonic distortion and other electrical interference from renewable energy sources on the site distribution system.
  • Support the design of electrical systems as part of an integrated project team.
  • Support management of the site-wide electrical distribution system and load sharing.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant national and European standards for Electrical Distribution systems and infrastructure.
  • Prepare and modify electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting of electrical issues as required.
  • Support supervision and coordination of equipment installations.
  • Support maintenance of critical electrical supply systems including generator backups and UPS.
  • Lead site team in planning, scheduling and executing electrical shutdowns.
  • Lead the development and implementation of ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) across the organization.
  • Identify, plan, and execute energy-saving projects to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
  • Conduct energy audits, analyze consumption patterns, and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on energy performance metrics and sustainability KPIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into operational processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and technological advancements in energy management.
  • Prepare documentation, audit reports, and management reviews related to energy performance.
  • Support sustainability reporting and certification goals; communicate business issues or opportunities to management as appropriate.
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental practices are followed and resources are available as needed.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
  • Level 8 Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong operation and maintenance experience in a regulated industry, including pharmaceutical environments.
  • Medium Voltage operator experience above 10 kV.
  • Track record in people leadership and development (desirable).
  • Asset management experience in Medical Device or Health Care industries.
  • Experience in Utilities and Facilities function management.
  • Operational experience of BMS, SCADA; ISO 50001 certification experience.
  • High attention to detail and pro-active approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Flexible, with strong planning and organizing skills.
