Overview: The role of the Reliability Specialist is to improve asset management and reliability through technical support of the maintenance function and optimization of the site maintenance process. The Reliability Specialist is the primary owner of the Asset Maintenance Strategy. They analyze equipment history and apply technical skills to correct equipment problems causing repetitive failures. This role operates within the Engineering Centre of Excellence (CoE) and collaborates with colleagues within the IPT (Integrated Production Team). The specialist provides expert advice on equipment reliability, risk-based asset management, and cost management, supporting routine and project-based initiatives from the Accelerate Program / RMRT (Right Maintenance Right Time). The role reports to the Reliability Lead within CoE.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering solutions to prevent repetitive failures and costly equipment problems.
- Maintain the Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) program, including vibration, thermography, and other predictive analyses, supporting result interpretation.
- Analyze equipment history within the CMMS to ensure maintenance effectiveness, reducing regulatory concerns (cGxP and EHS).
- Improve maintenance work efficiency, ensuring reliable operation of plant, process, and equipment while protecting and prolonging asset lifespan at optimal costs.
- Benchmark other sites and industries for emerging technologies and techniques; implement digital solutions and SMART maintenance.
- Coach planners and schedulers to meet key metrics like schedule adherence, costs, and resource utilization.
- Comply with Quality and EHS Management System requirements relevant to operations.
- Support maintenance projects aimed at improvements, including BOM management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Engineering degree, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- At least 5 years of professional experience.
- Desirable: +3 years in a similar industrial or consultancy role.
- Strong analytical skills to identify trends and patterns.
- Knowledge of CMMS is highly desirable.
- Experience with maintenance data analytics is an advantage.
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
