The Department currently has a vacancy for a Financial Reporting Policy Analyst at Administrative Officer level in its Government Accounting Unit and applications are encouraged from suitably qualified, committed individuals from all backgrounds.

About the Role:
Reporting to an Accountant Grade I or II, the Financial Reporting Policy Analyst supports the development of financial reporting policy for the public sector by researching and understanding individual International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for their application in Ireland and managing projects to support their introduction. They also provide services to stakeholders by acting as a knowledge resource and key contact point for finance colleagues across both the Department itself and finance units across the public sector in respect of financial reporting and Public Financial Procedures.
About You:
The principal duties and responsibilities of the role will include: Government Accounting Policy Development
• Managing project to transpose IPSAS into Central Government Accounting Standards (CGAS);
• Collaborating with key stakeholders and undertaking independent research into how a particular IPSAS if transposed as a CGAS would affect Government Departments and Offices;
• Supporting the development of Public Financial Procedures;
• Researching and acquiring expertise in developments in Public Sector financial governance;
• Assisting in the preparation of the Annual Appropriation Account circular;
• Supporting the broader work of the Unit including work involving the following: the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies, Internal Audit Standards, Public Bank Accounts, Accounting Officer warrants and the Minute of the Minister; Services to Stakeholders
• Representing the Department, attending and participating at domestic and international conferences (EPSAS/Eurostat and OECD) and seminars as required.
• Ensuring that the highest standards of customer service are met when carrying out the functions of the Unit;
• Participating in special projects and joint working arrangements, including taking a lead role in public sector financial reporting reform.
