Overview

Cork County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which vacancies for Executive Construction/Project Manager may be filled. Positions may arise in any of the Council's functional areas, which may include, but are not limited to, Roads, Transportation & Area Services, Capital Delivery, Asset Management & Land Development, Planning & Environment, and Housing. Executive Construction/Project Managers can be appointed to a wide variety of roles across the Council. The role can include responsibility for the successful delivery of a range of major and minor capital projects; responsibility for the management and effective delivery of a range of services, and responsibility for the management and supervision of assigned staff.

Responsibilities

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms -

  • hold at least an ordinary bachelor's degree (level 7 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)) in construction management, engineering or a related discipline relevant to the post; or
  • hold an ordinary bachelor's degree (level 7 on the NFQ) AND a post-graduate master's degree (level 9 on the NFQ) in construction management, engineering or a related discipline relevant to the post.
  • have at least five years satisfactory experience relevant to the role after attaining the qualification.
  • possess a high standard of technical training and experience appropriate to the post.
  • have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
