Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world, with abundant flora and fauna. This project works to map the lowland rainforest area, which is essential to its protection.
The goal of this project is to study the environment, improving your research skills, and to share your results with the wider scientific community. This helps reinforce knowledge and promote environmental conservation and sustainability.
If you wish to join our long-term biodiversity research on our private reserve, we welcome you to our project. Research options are open to all levels of expertise and experience. In addition to conducting long-term research, you can also conduct your own research topic with supervision and guidance toward a successful methodology.
The project is located between an Indigenous reserve and Barbilla National Park. Some parts have been heavily logged, but much remains pristine and in need of study and protection. Our goals are biodiversity, reforestation and sustainable living.
Daily routineBreakfast is served at 7:00 am. At 8:00 am, the day starts with a trip into the jungle to collect data and conduct research. Some days you may work in the organic vegetable garden, build a tree nursery, investigate collected insects, inventory butterflies, or make chocolate from cacao you collected. Lunch is at 12:30 pm, followed by data processing, analysis, writing, or garden work. Dinner is at 5:00 pm. After dinner you can relax in the community house. By 9:00 pm quiet hours are expected. Weekends offer time to relax, visit waterfalls or the beach.
