Child Nutrition Programs Assistant Pool SY

To assist with the school food service program in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations, local and state health ordinances, and school district policies.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve a wide variety of foods including soups, entrees, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, salads, breads, desserts, and beverages
  • Work rapidly and efficiently; interact positively and effectively with students and school personnel
  • Follow written job assignments, recipes, and oral instructions
  • Apply and maintain Health Department and USDA sanitation standards and personal hygiene; keep required records
  • Participate in job-related training and professional growth activities
  • Develop and apply knowledge and skills obtained from training under the supervision of the manager and CNP central office staff
  • Follow the supervisor's instructions as to methods and procedures for performing tasks
  • Follow the Child Nutrition Program manager's instructions in portioning, garnishing, and serving meals
  • Practice procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment, and personal habits to meet sanitation standards
  • Maintain safety in preparing, storing, and serving food
  • Maintain required forms and records as assigned by managers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • A current Food Handler Permit from the Jefferson County Health Department or Serve-Safe Certification
  • Basic knowledge of methods of quantity food preparation and serving; use and care of kitchen equipment and utensils; food service safety; principles of sanitation; basic reading, writing, and math skills
