About The Role
Working in the EMEA Compliance Department this role involves collaborating with colleagues to strengthen the bank's Quality Assurance (QA) framework, with the goal of embedding a consistent and effective approach to QA testing across the EMEA region.
The role supports the promotion of QA best practices and drives continuous improvement in processes and controls throughout the function.
Responsibilities
- Apply subject matter expertise to design and enhance CPD's risk-based Quality Assurance (QA) framework, promoting effectiveness and standardisation across the department and the wider EMEA region.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify high-risk functions, processes, and controls requiring QA coverage, leveraging Risk Assessments and other relevant inputs to support a targeted, risk-based approach.
- Establish and maintain a structured schedule of QA reviews for all in-scope activities, ensuring appropriate coverage and review cadence.
- Support the development and implementation of a consistent QA methodology, including sampling techniques, scoring criteria, thresholds, templates, and procedural documentation.
- Partner with other assurance functions across the bank to align on best practices and promote consistent standards.
- Identify and assess opportunities to automate QA testing to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Manage the QA execution cycle, overseeing the book of work, coordinating schedules, and addressing delays or backlogs through appropriate escalation.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of controls and determine whether quality standards are met, providing credible challenge to Control and Process Owners as required.
- Identify control weaknesses, emerging trends, and thematic issues, and recommend remedial actions, process improvements, and opportunities for continuous enhancement.
- Escalate and present significant findings and trends to senior stakeholders and governance forums in a clear and actionable manner.
- Develop and deliver ad hoc training sessions to share thematic insights and promote awareness of common QA issues.
- Remain informed of internal policy changes, regulatory updates, and evolving standards relevant to QA responsibilities, ensuring compliance and continuous alignment.
- Proven experience in internal or external audit, compliance testing, assurance, or similar functions within a regulated environment, ideally within the banking sector.
- Strong understanding of markets products and associated compliance risks.
- Skilled in developing and implementing industry-standard testing methodologies and quality assurance frameworks.
- Solid grasp of risk management principles, with experience applying risk-based approaches to testing and monitoring activities.
- Good working knowledge of UK and European regulatory frameworks, including Compliance and Financial Crime (AML, sanctions, etc.).
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and persistence in delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Effective at building strong relationships across all levels of the organisation, with the ability to influence, challenge constructively, and communicate complex or sensitive issues with clarity.
- A collaborative team player, equally capable of working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities.
- Experienced in planning and executing deliverables to deadline, with a strong focus on accountability and follow-through.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings and prepare clear, concise reports.
- Comfortable speaking up, raising concerns, and contributing to a culture of openness and challenge.
