The Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship is an "earn while you learn" higher certificate programme that combines on the job industry training with academic study. With regards to the latter there are typically 8 learning modules to complete in each academic year. This two-year programme leads to a Level 6 Higher Certificate in Science as a Laboratory Technician). During this apprenticeship you will learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary for a successful career in an FDA and EMA approved laboratory environment. You'll also gain experience with us at Viatris Ireland, a certified Top Employer as well as earning a salary and third level education. Note: By completion of the 2 Year, Level 6 Programme, graduates can progress to the 3rd and final year of the Level 7 Ordinary Bachelor of Science as a Laboratory Analyst.

The Role & What You Will Be Doing

• The programme is designed for those who wish to develop a career in the laboratory environment of the Biopharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical, Chemical Manufacturing, Food, Medical Devices, Independent Testing and/or State Laboratory sectors. Employment in these sectors is forecasted to grow significantly over the next 3-5 years marking this an excellent time to get on-board.

• Viatris is a world leading pharmaceutical company and is offering you the opportunity to work at one of our approved drug manufacturing sites in Ireland, for the 2-year term of the Level 6 Laboratory Apprenticeship Programme/ 3-year term of the Level 7 Apprenticeship Programme

• During term time you would work 3 days per week in our high-tech Laboratory, learning on-the-job, while spending 2 contact days per week. The "blended" learning approach is highly effective for all learning styles and preferences.

About Your Skills & Experience

For this role, we're looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

• For entry into year 1 of the Level 6 Programme applicants must have the following:

• Pass (Grade O6 or better) in five leaving certificate subjects one of which must be maths and one science related subject. Minimum of 250 CAO point

• Mature student 23 + wishing to change career

• Be a current employee with relevant experience and qualifications

• Before enrolment on the apprenticeship programme the apprentice must have:

  • An Industry Interview

  • SOLAS apprentice approval
