The Sustainability Manager for the Mace Responsible Business team will lead the development of client climate change, sustainability, and social value strategies on projects. This includes defining project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team. The role involves promoting innovation in sustainability topics such as waste, energy, water, responsible sourcing, and sustainable buildings.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Applying excellent knowledge of sustainable building design, including embodied and operational carbon, energy reduction, and NZC strategies, in new build and refurbishment projects.
  • Driving design teams to understand and respond to environmental constraints and opportunities.
  • Expertise in sustainability topics such as waste, water, energy, carbon, responsible sourcing, biodiversity, etc.
  • Translating technical topics into layperson language and articulating their value.
  • Representing Mace at relevant forums and through presentations.
  • Championing sustainability and encouraging behavioral change within the business.
  • Developing and communicating innovation and best practices.
  • Supporting bid processes with strong business acumen.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as required.

You'll need to have:

  • A degree in a relevant environmental or science subject.
  • Experience in project, contractor, stakeholder engagement, or employment & skills requirements.
  • Experience in developing or implementing environmental management systems.
  • Practical experience in sectors such as infrastructure (rail, highways).
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
