Position: Social Care Worker

Location: Miley House, Naas, Co. Kildare

Employment Type: Full-time / Permanent

Salary: 16.30 - 17.70 per hour Reports to: Centre Manager

Role Summary

As a Social Care Worker, you will play a central role in supporting young people in a residential setting. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality care, promote therapeutic relationships, and support young people to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with young people through daily interactions.
  • Support the emotional, educational, and behavioural needs of each young person.
  • Implement individual care plans and contribute to their development and review.
  • Ensure the safety, welfare, and protection of young people in line with national standards.
  • Promote independence and life skills through structured routines and role modelling.
  • Maintain detailed records including daily logs, incident reports, and key working sessions.
  • Liaise effectively with families, social workers, schools, and external professionals.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training.
  • Uphold the values of Emerald Care RCS and our commitment to trauma-informed care.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Social Care or a related discipline (e.g., Youth Work, Psychology, Social Work).
  • A genuine commitment to working with vulnerable children and young people.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamworking skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, National Standards for Children's Residential Centres (2018), and child safeguarding practices.
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations.

Desirable

  • Experience in a residential or similar care setting.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
