Senior Project Engineer (Transport)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer (Transport) to join our Transport Infrastructure business based in Ireland. This is a hybrid role with offices available in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Sligo, and Kilkenny.

About The Transport Infrastructure Business: With more than half the world's population now living in urban areas, smart, safe, and sustainable transport is crucial. Designing and delivering locally relevant transport systems requires careful consideration of many issues, from environmental impact to community needs. We provide technical and advisory services across the entire project lifecycle and have worked on many successful transport projects in Ireland and the UK, including roads, rail, ports, airports, and greenways. RPS has routed, designed, and supervised the construction of over 400km of Irish roads and motorways, with a focus on sustainable transport.

About The Role: The Senior Project Engineer will work on the design and delivery of roads, rail, greenways, and active travel projects from inception through planning, design, and construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare designs and reports appropriate to experience level at all project stages.
  • Ensure compliance with RPS quality and management procedures.
  • Motivate oneself, take ownership of issues, and collaborate with the team.
  • Work in a Level 2 BIM environment.
  • Engage with clients and design teams for project delivery.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience in designing transport projects, including roads, rail, and public transport.
  • Experience with Active Travel and Greenway projects.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in design and construction phases.
  • Knowledge of Irish and UK standards (NTA, TII, DMRB).
  • Experience across project phases from options to construction.
  • Client liaison experience.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, and other relevant software.
  • Strong communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • A Level 8 honours degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Level 9 master's degree is advantageous.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is preferred.

Why RPS for you? You will work on challenging projects, with opportunities for development and flexible working arrangements. RPS values diversity and inclusion and offers a supportive environment with a clear career pathway.
