Overview

Person In Charge Residential Services, Ballyhaunis Co. Mayo at Western Care Association.

Reference 2025-172A. Maternity Leave Contract 39 hours per week (Monday-Thursday 9-5pm & Friday 9-4pm).

Responsibilities
  • As Person in Charge you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and supervising a staff team supporting people to live the life of their choosing.
  • Provide strong leadership to develop an SRV approach to service provision, including responsibility for the training and development for coordinators and a track record in leading innovation and change.
  • Demonstrate leadership and the ability to work in a dynamic environment with people supported, staff, families, and community leaders.
  • Provide support and constructive feedback to staff in a respectful manner; present concepts and information relevant to SRV-informed and autism-informed approaches; be creative and solution-focused.
Candidate Requirements
  • Knowledge of HIQA requirements is essential.
  • Resilience in working in the community.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work on own initiative; creative problem solving; highly motivated.
  • Experience in facilitating and supporting people with high and/or complex needs; genuine understanding and interest in working with people to effect positive opportunities and change.
  • Ability to listen, advocate for individuals' needs, preferences, rights, and dreams; teamwork with motivation to deliver high-quality facilitation with individuals, families, and other disciplines; belief in rights, inclusion, and equality.
Qualification Details
  • A minimum level 7-degree qualification in Social Care, or equivalent; qualification must be eligible for CORU registration.
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial or supervisory experience in the social care sector; management qualification.
Other Duties Involved
  • Contribute to local service planning and development to meet changing needs of the service.
  • Provide personal care and support to service users where required.
  • Ensure a safe place of work in line with Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Promote safety in all environments and use positive approaches to support individuals with challenging behaviour in line with organisational practice.
Other Requirements
  • Full drivers license and access to a car required.
  • All applicants subject to Garda Vetting and references; work authorization for non-EU applicants as applicable; overseas police clearance if lived outside ROI/NI for more than 6 months since age 18.
Salary

Social Care Leader Pay Scale (Scale Range €52,326 to €61,492 per annum) based on full-time hours (39 per week).
