Position: Lecturer in Nursing

Contract: 12 months fixed-term contract

Reports to: Director of the Nursing Programme

Location: Hybrid/Dublin

Job Purpose

The Assistant Professor in Nursing will be involved in all aspects of the academic lifecycle of the student to include teaching, assessment and student support. In partnership with the College Digital Learning Team, this role involves the development of online nursing academic content. Opportunities to work with the wider Hibernia College academic community include areas such as research and digital capabilities. The successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of general nursing and its underlying principles and experience of teaching, learning and assessment processes within a higher education context.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and co-ordinate the delivery of core nursing modules across the programme, including active teaching roles.
  • Grade, mark and moderate student assessments. Contribute to the assessment planning and review processes and participate in examination boards as required.
  • Work with programme administration in monitoring, reviewing and managing the student experience.
  • Where appropriate, oversee and co-ordinate the activities of adjunct faculty.
  • Provide updates to the Programme Director, Nursing team and College support teams as required.
  • Promote and sustain the mission and values of Hibernia College in all aspects of the role.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing team on the development, growth, and success of the nursing programme, both academic and professional.
  • Support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and review of the programme, including validation processes, and ensure compliance with external stakeholders such as Quality Qualifications Ireland (QQI) and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Support the nursing team in upholding academic quality and standards across all aspects of the programme, with reference to the Hibernia College Quality Framework.
  • Keep up to date with nursing literature, nursing research and new developments in nurse education.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Programme Director.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Level 9 or equivalent qualification in Nursing.
  • Registered on the General Register of Nurses maintained by the NMBI.
  • A minimum 5 years' post registration experience.
  • Have a proven track record in nurse education and management relevant to the role.
  • Capable and confident communicator with a proven ability to respond to and manage change
  • Strong team player, with interpersonal skills, self-motivating with a supportive and professional attitude.
