Location:The Society operates a hybrid working model with a combination of remote and in-person (Dublin office) working. Office attendance days are Wednesday & Thursday weekly. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Purpose of the role: The Programme Manager - Grants will be responsible for: Overseethe Societys competitive research grant call programmes. Management of the research grants programme team Project management of large, cross-organisational strategic partnerships People Management Recruit,developandmanagetheresearch grants programme teamincludingperformancemanagement, training requirements and application of the Societys annual appraisal process. Assesstrainingneedsofnewandexistingstaffandorganisetrainingasappropriate. Project Management and Programme Evaluation Lead out on the day-to-day management of our large strategic partnerships. Work with the Head of Research to develop an annual grant call programme and budget. Continually look for ways to develop and implement improvements to thegrant management processes, and work to develop and update policies and procedures for our annual grant calls. Manage the day-to-day implementation of the Irish Cancer Society annual competitive grant call programme. Oversee the post-award processes including the ongoing management of currently funded researchers. Stakeholder & relationship management Identify new opportunities to reach out to the cancer research community in Ireland and encourage them to consider applying for Irish Cancer Society grants. Develop and maintain working relationships with funded researchers. Keep up to date with cancer research developments and with the research calls published by other funding bodies. Assist in the development and delivery of research communications plan with the Advocacy & Communications department to include research communications, marketing, advertising and public relations. Work with the other members of the Research Department to ensure that the patient voice is embedded in the Societys grant calls. Be familiar with relevant international (including European) cancer research developments and their implications for Ireland. Who you are? Skilled scientific writer:excellent writing and editing skills, ability to draft and edit scientific reports. Independent: you will have the ability to work on your own initiative. Adaptable team player:you will work flexibly and collaboratively within your direct team and with colleagues across the organisation. An effective and engaging communicator: you will have excellent and engaging communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact effectively, efficiently and appropriately with staff, senior managers, public and external organisations. Organised and efficient:you will be highly organised and efficient in your work, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively to deadlines. Good decision making and negotiation skills:ability to make decisions using good judgement and reasoning, as well as experience with negotiating difficult situations. Flexible:you will have a flexible approach with the ability to work in a methodical and organised fashion. Technology savvy: you will have a high level of proficiency in the MS Office suite, and experience of working with databases, as well Your qualifications and experience Educated to PhD level. >3 years experience working in relevant professional field. Demonstrated experience in project management. Excellent networking skills. Demonstrated experience in managing people. Excellent knowledge of university structures, research environment and academic procedures.
