The School provides taught programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The School through its Sustainable Infrastructure Research & Innovation Group (SIRIG) provides wide-ranging, vibrant and expanding Master by Research and PhD Programmes, supported by National and International Research Funding Programmes. The research is infrastructure focused in the context of the Engineered and Built Environments with a particular emphasis on innovation, sustainability and digitization. The Sustainable Infrastructure Research & Innovation Group (SIRIG) has received funding as part of the Interreg NWE Programme for two projects titled: - ReNu2Cycle - Recycling of Nutrient to Close the Fertiliser Cycle - SIMONE - Systemic Innovations with Multiple performance evaluated in ON-farm Experimentations These projects have university and industry partners from Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. We are seeking a suitably qualified, ambitious and motivated candidate to work as a researcher on the ReNu2Cycle & SIMONE Projects. Duties of the Post: The advertised position provides an opportunity to join the SIRIG Research Group and a European Team working in the area of sustainable waste management/sustainable agriculture. The successful candidate will carry out research with a primary focus on stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will also undertake research in the area of stakeholder engagement, interviews, surveys & interaction with project living labs. The successful candidate will be responsible for research work, project management, work-package management, collaboration with the project partners and the wider project teams and will be involved in extensive external engagement with the stakeholder along the recycling derived fertiliser supply chain and across February 2025 Page 2 of 4 Ref: 023135 the agricultural sector. The project will involve travel to and from relevant industry sites and travel to partner meetings and conferences as required. Key Skills and Experience requirements Essential Demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of the agriculture and/or waste sector Strong level of technical aptitude and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills Present results/methods/reports in written and oral form to internal and external stakeholders Capable of directing and interfacing with the work of collaborators (including at remote locations) Ability to build and document knowledge and share information about recycled products, innovative farming practices, stakeholder engagement in the relevant field of activity Fluency in English and excellent written and oral presentation skills Desirable Manage and develop aspects of the project according to aligned project deliverables Mange work packages of the projects The potential candidate should be self-motivated with an aptitude for creative problem-solving, along with the flexibility to adapt to new tools and techniques Proficient in documentation, presentation and project management software Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Able to work independently as a self-starter and as part of the wider project team In your application you should refer to as many of the above as are applicable. Qualification Requirements and Selection Criteria for role: The post will require a researcher who holds a Level 8 degree and a Masters degree. Alternatively, significant relevant experience (a minimum of 4 years relevant experience) will be considered in lieu of a Masters degree. It is desirable that candidates have a background in farming and knowledge of the farming sector, in Northwest Europe in particular. A background in stakeholder engagement is also desirable. NOTE: In addition to the minimum qualifications, it may be necessary to introduce further shortlisting criteria.
