Job Description: Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Health and Safety to lead the health and safety initiatives and ensure a safe work environment for all employees, visitors, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health, safety and environmental management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for promoting a positive safety culture.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are in place to mitigate workplace hazards.
- Provide leadership and direction to the health and safety team, including training, mentoring, and performance management.
- Monitor and evaluate health and safety performance through regular audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health and safety considerations into business processes and decision-making.
- Develop and deliver engaging training programs and awareness campaigns to promote safety awareness and encourage safe behaviours.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging health and safety trends, regulations, and technologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, industry organizations, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management on health and safety performance, initiatives, and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent certification highly desirable.
- Strong experience in health and safety management, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex health and safety issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
