JOB TITLE Production Manager-Slaughter Line Reports to Site Manager Overall responsibility Full responsibility for intake, kill, evisceration and storage of pigs and the efficient running of the slaughter line facilities. Reports 102 X operatives 1 X supervisor 1 x trainer/ charge hand Main Responsibilities Manage the slaughter line processes, carcass loading and chill operation to the required productivity levels. Work with the maintenance team to ensure uptime is achieved and plans are in place for the delivery of production. Promote a root cause analysis and problem solving culture. Report on daily, (weekly and monthly) basis on activity, productivity, costs, deviations, initiatives and actions. Manage Animal Welfare from the Livestock Vehicles through the Lairage to Stunning. Comply with customers and regulatory requirements. Actively manage Slaughter Line uptime performance including the delivery of the Preventative Maintenance System. Delivery efficient utilisation for raw materials. Liaise with the onsite Regulatory representatives to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements for animal slaughter are met. Training and Development of staff including: SOPs management, operators training. Ensure the Slaughter Training Matrix is maintained and reviewed; and that appropriate training is planned and carried out. Implement cost controls in relation to, labour including, absenteeism and resource levels Ensure all Health & Safety requirements are met and required standards and practices are maintained by all staff. Undertake Risk Management Meetings. Support accident Investigations and implement learnings Control the operation of the pig payment data collecting system including SOPs and records from Lairage to scales and the operation of the Hennesy Probe. Support change management and lean management initiatives. Ensure the Company Environmental Policy is adhered to. Identify, problems promptly through line management ensuring quick resolution. Communicating and escalating appropriately. Manage the resourcing plans, dealing with employee issues with the support of HR so to ensure the employees are motivated, trained and managed to deliver business results. Any other tasks as assigned by the Company that assist in operating in an efficient, cost effective manner, including, but not limited to, new work practices, revision of SOPs, operating new equipment, etc. Key areas of responsibility Yield and efficiency Product Quality and Specification to meet Customer and factory requirements Hygieneas set out in the HACCP system. Liaise with the QA Manager. Management of staff attendance. Liaise with HR Manager Regulatory compliance Corrective action from Customer complaints Training and Development of staff Safety, Health and Welfare of staff Problem solving and root cause analysis Otheractivities as assigned by the Slaughter Line Manager or the Operations Manager Consults with Site Manager Production Manager/ Line Management and Supervisors Maintenance manager and maintenance team Quality Department and team Regulatory officials Human Resources Onsite suppliers Finance, payroll and other support departments Qualifications Management experience in an animal slaughter process Strong understanding of production processes and maintenances and equipment Strong sense of customer service Lean management and problem solving experience Good organizational skills People management skills and experiences Financial / KPI management experience Knowledge of HACCP Awareness of personal responsibilities concerning H&S and Security requirements within the department working areas after training Undergone training in RRMS and the ability to implement same Ability to train operatives (ideally have undertaken recognised training delivery course) Skills: meat processing slaughterline manager food processing pig meat abattoir food management production manager
