Role Title: Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Role Location: Swords A part-time (0.5) permanent position has arisen within Vhi for the role of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse CNM 2 based in Swords. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive standardised IPC service in line with the Health & Wellbeing (H&W )IPC annual programme, which supports safe quality care. This will include clinical focus, patient advocacy, education and training, research and audit, and consultation across H&W national services, Benefits: Excellent company pension Health Insurance Death in service benefit Income Protection Role Purpose Act as an accountable role model through the provision of professional leadership and demonstration of best practice in the area of IPC. Work as a key stakeholder and member of the IPC team providing expert advice and support to all members of both clinical and non-clinical teams. Work as part of the IPC team to ensure IPC annual program for H&W with identified goals are achieved. Be required to provide and maintain a comprehensive, efficient, and effective IPC service by assessing, identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the role in line with national and international recommendations and guidance, which will be reviewed and evaluated with line management quarterly to ensure performance delivery. Carry out the responsibilities of the role with cognisance of national and international best quality assured standards of care. Manage service user care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, risk management approach. Education & Experience Registered or are eligible for registrationin the General Nurse Division 5 years post registration experience. It is desirable that the candidate has 1 year of experience workingin the specialty of infection prevention & control. Have a recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or Post Grad course in Infection Control or be in pursuit of same. This higher Diploma has to be completed successfully within 3 years of commencing the IPC CNM2 post. Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Skills and Abilities Act as a specialist resource in providing IPC knowledge and expertise to nursing and all healthcare personnel. Ensure that all IPC guidelines and procedures are research/evidence based and that they are updated as required Advise and participate in the commissioning, tendering and purchasing of patient care and medical equipment as pertaining to IPC. Provide IPC advice to committees established to oversee capital projects, renovations and refurbishments within the clinic. Participate in the formulation of IPC risk assessments guidelines, standards and procedures, with the IPC team and other relevant staff, including defining areas of special risk. Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department involving the team in continuous improvement initiatives and encouraging innovation. A full clean driving licence and access to appropriate transport to fulfill the requirements of the role.
